Minions
A minion is a worker you place and look after. The Miner mines stone and ores in front of it while you play, and it fills a chest for you. Right now it is the only kind of minion.
Buy and place a Miner
- Buy it. Open
/shop, then Money Makers, and click the Minions button. A Miner costs Ⓢ15,000, paid from the Silver Coin wallet of the world you are in. - Place it. Right-click the top of a solid block with it. It needs 2 free blocks above, and it faces the way you look. A figure holding a pickaxe appears, with a name tag that shows its level and its health.
- Add a chest. Put a chest, a trapped chest, a barrel or a hopper right next to it. The Miner drops what it mines there. Without one, it keeps everything in its own storage.
A minion doesn't pay you by itself. Take what it collects and sell it in the Bazaar. A cobblestone generator in front of it keeps it busy.
Where it works
- Only while you are online. A minion works only while its owner is online, and only while its chunk is loaded. It never catches up on the time you were away.
- Skyblock. On an island you are a member of.
- Survival. Inside your own claim or a claim that trusts you, or on unprotected land (no claim and no protected region) at least 32 blocks from the world spawn.
- Not everywhere. Never in the hub, the Nether or the End.
- Crowding. At most 4 minions in one chunk.
How many minions you can have placed depends on the world. In Survival it is 6. In Skyblock it grows with your island level.
| Where | Minions you can have |
|---|---|
| Survival | 6 |
| Skyblock, island levels 1 and 2 | 2 |
| Skyblock, island levels 3 and 4 | 4 |
| Skyblock, island levels 5 and 6 | 6 |
| Skyblock, island levels 7 and 8 | 8 |
| Skyblock, island levels 9 and 10 | 10 |
The Skyblock page lists the island levels.
What a Miner does
- It mines. Every 2.5 seconds it breaks the blocks in front of it, as many as its level allows, from 1 up to 5. It mines stone, cobblestone, deepslate and other stone, and the ores: coal, iron, copper, gold, redstone, lapis, diamond and emerald.
- It smelts. From level 2 it smelts what it mines.
- It stops, it doesn't dig. At any other block it stops and says Blocked, and nothing behind that block is touched. It never mines a chest, a furnace or any other block that holds items.
- No XP, no level-up pay. A minion's mining gives no skill XP and no skill level-up money.
- When it is full. If the chest next to it and its own storage are both full, it stops until you empty them.
Levels
You upgrade a Miner from its menu, up to level 5. Each upgrade costs the price in the table for the level you move to.
| Level | Price | Most health | Storage slots | Blocks ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ⓢ15,000 | 10 | 9 | 1 |
| 2 | Ⓢ22,500 | 30 | 18 | 2 |
| 3 | Ⓢ37,500 | 40 | 27 | 3 |
| 4 | Ⓢ60,000 | 50 | 36 | 4 |
| 5 | Ⓢ90,000 | 60 | 45 | 5 |
Health and food
A Miner gets tired. It loses 1 health for every 20 times it mines something. At 0 health, with no food to eat, it stops and its name tag says Hungry.
- Food pouch. Open the minion and use the Food pouch, which holds 9 stacks. The Miner eats from it by itself when it needs to.
- Feed it. No food to hand? Click Feed it and pay Ⓢ25 for every missing health point. You pay from the Silver Coin wallet of the world you are in.
| Food | Health it gives |
|---|---|
| Bread, apple | 2 |
| Cooked beef, porkchop, mutton, chicken, rabbit, salmon or cod | 4 |
| Golden apple | 15 |
| Enchanted golden apple | 30 |
Its menu
Right-click the figure to open its menu. Only the owner can open it.
- Take the drops. Click an item to take it. Left-click takes one stack, right-click takes all of them.
- Upgrade. The button shows the next level and its price.
- Feed it and Food pouch. See Health and food above.
- Pick up. Takes the minion back as an item. It works only when the storage and the Food pouch are empty.
- The name tag says what is wrong: Hungry, Storage full, Blocked or Cannot work here.
The minion item looks like a pickaxe, but it is no tool: you can't mine, craft or sell with it. Put it away before you use /sell.
